Low-Level Diode Laser Therapy (LLLT) versus Topical Corticosteroids in the Management of Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis Patients. A Randomized Controlled Trial

Objectives: The current study was conducted to evaluate the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on recurrent aphthous stomatitis for reduction pain score and ulcer size. Subjects Methods: 28 participants with symptomatic minor ulcers were randomly allocated into two groups. treatment group received a 980 nm diode control topical triamcinolone acetonide 0.1%. measured outcomes included as visual analog scale (VAS) at baseline, second day, seventh lesion size baseline day. Results: A statistically significant difference found between corticosteroid groups when comparing VAS scores day (pain -2.2 ± 0.9 -4.786 1 respectively p -value 0.001) seven -4.643 1.646 -6.071 1.439 0.024) in favor group. Moreover, noticed regarding decrease (lesion diameter -3.036 1.447 -4.536 1.846 Two experienced severe mouth dryness after application. None patients any side effects. Conclusion: LLLT can be considered reliable alternative steroids management since it more effective reducing both intensity
